Karissa Thomas is an ambitious yet frustrated black actress who is tired with the hands she's been dealt by the industry. So, when she is given the opportunity to audition for the dark skin main character in her favorite book, she jumps at the chance. However, when she arrives at the callbacks, her fellow auditionees are all lightskin, and she is denied the chance to audition before she even gets in the door.
